Brilliant Bites and Tasty Treats

Image
The food department at TK Maxx might look quite eclectic from a distance but is the perfect hunting ground for purchasing high quality delicatessen items at great prices. Ideal if it is something new that you might not be sure if it will become a favourite or not 😋🥂 I recently bought a fabulous selection of items instore - from Mindful Bites delicious cocoa nibs, nut butter spread, Verduijn's Fine Cheese Wafers with honey and mustard, Sparta Groves Greek honey with thyme, pine-tree and herbs, chia seeds, coconut blossom syrup and Thomas Fudge's dark chocolate Florentines (these are for when all my good intentions fly out of the window!) 🍫🍯🍪 I have become a real devotee of Thomas Fudge who manufacture all their biscuits down in Dorset and can also be found at Waitrose stores. Their cheese biscuits are really thin and crunchy, perfect with some local Cornish cheese on our recent half-term break in Padstow! I've bought olive oil, tea and coffee from

Fabulous publications for the dedicated fashionista..!

Image
Whenever I am looking for some fashion inspiration  I always head down to the book department of my nearest TK Maxx (or browse their website without moving from my cosy armchair!) Their eclectic range of literature means that I can always find something new and exciting. From fabulous coffee table tomes showcasing the coolest designers.. ..to advice on the best new accessories or even a travel guide to the fashion secrets of my next holiday destination: All of my selections in this post are beautiful quality hardbacks from top publishing houses, but at a fraction of the price of buying retail (they cost from £2 to £8 each at TK Maxx). Any of these gorgeous books would also make a wonderful gift 😍🎁👏I think this one would be lovely accompanied by a TK Maxx designer white shirt for example (more of which to come soon!) What will you find next? Let me know in the comments section, can't wait to hear from you! Enjoy your weekend 💟 xxx

Pantherella Fine English Socks - the perfect luxury stocking-filler..

Image
Not many people will put the words "luxury", "exciting" and "socks" in the same sentence, but combine my husband's devotion to the wonderful English sock brand, Pantherella, with the rarity of finding them outside of the top London, or New York, department stores and you'll begin to see where I'm going with this.. Established in 1937 in the Midlands, and soon renowned as producing the world's finest socks, Pantherella really are the perfect luxury brand to keep your tootsies warm.  My husband first discovered them back in 2008 at Bergdorf Goodman in New York. Loving the soft texture of merino wool he bought several pairs costing around $19 per pair.  Over the years I have occasionally seen Pantherella at TK Maxx, but was delighted this evening to find not just one pair, but 9 pairs, in just the right size, for a fantastic £18 in total! The perfect stocking filler for his upcoming Valentine's gift! For more informat

Iconic Lulu Guinness: Bags of style in-store and online at TK Maxx

Image
Having always loved Lulu Guinness's high quality and quirky handbags and accessories, I was delighted to find them at my favourite retailer recently. Blessed with some Christmas money and TK Maxx's fabulous discounts I was able to purchase three examples in this luxury brand's iconic black, white and red colourway. An "I ❤️ Handbags" make up bag, bought in store during the January yellow label sale was just £9 (reduced from the original TK Maxx price of £29.99, a considerable saving on normal RRP). Seeing another bargain reduced online - the glossy black Marcel Wave clutch, I snapped it up having always wanted one. It arrived beautifully packed in its original Lulu Guinness box: I took no time at all to carefully unwrap this beautiful clutch bag, so elegant but sassy too. The RRP is £295, I bought it for £53 and am absolutely delighted with 82% saving on this stand out piece! It has a gorgeous "red lips" clasp.. .. and silver tone,

Affordable designer basics - not just for grown ups..!

Don't you love it when young children mis-pronounce things and those words and phrases become part of your family vocabulary for evermore? As a toddler, our daughter dubbed my favourite retail destination "Team-mate Max" - making our shopping trips feel more like a catch up with old friends 🛍️🤗. Time flies, but TK Maxx is still our first stop for great quality kid's staples at affordable prices. This week, I was on the lookout for a couple of pairs of "cool" but teen-appropriate jeans / leggings, plus a matching top that could be worn with the fabulous Carvela "Jamm" slip-on's that our daughter recently bought with her Christmas gift money (more details below). Now, much as I love TK Maxx, there isn't always a huge range of teen-clothing available in store (which is why their website can be a useful resource if you are looking for a specific size). Nonetheless, I struck lucky and found a pair of stylish, pale pink DKNY jeans, some fl

Dress like a princess..without paying a king's ransom

Ever since our daughter was tiny, we have shopped at TK Maxx for a wide range of quality children's clothes, accessories, toys and books. Now that she is a "tween-ager", I am still keen that she looks smart for special, family occasions, whilst recognising that she wants to be cool and fashionable when out with her friends (more of which in my next post !) With all the snowy weather recently, we are really looking forward to our summer cruise (and the fun of dressing up for cocktail parties and gala evenings onboard!) Having failed to spot anything suitably sparkly in the Christmas sales, we recently headed to TK Maxx in the hope of finding some designer wow-factor.. Thankfully, our local store was in full-on party mode and our shopping trip felt more like a visit to the children's department of a major Knightsbridge department store (but without any palpitations at the till 😱). There was a good choice of formal wear available and we finally invested in a cou

My marvellous new Montegrappa makes writing fun again...

Image
There is something about a fresh, new year that makes me want to write. Not online, tapping furiously on a screen (although I'm clearly not averse to that either!), but taking my time to really write - longhand, with a beautiful pen, and using elegant stationery or a brand new notebook - I imagine my 2019 desk will look just like this (all items from TK Maxx) : Mind you, any new stationery items have a lot to live up to.. my husband is a lifetime devotee of expensive, top quality writing instruments. He owns, and regularly uses, a wide range of fountain pens, propelling pencils and rollerballs, from luxury makes such as Mont Blanc, Dunhill and Parker Duofold. One of his favourite sets is by the Italian house of Montegrappa, so when I saw a beautiful, black and silver Art Deco style ballpen of the same make on the TK Maxx website, reduced from RRP of £380, to just £66, I simply had to order one and see what the appeal was! The pen arrived promptly, well packaged and felt imm
