My marvellous new Montegrappa makes writing fun again...

There is something about a fresh, new year that makes me want to write. Not online, tapping furiously on a screen (although I'm clearly not averse to that either!), but taking my time to really write - longhand, with a beautiful pen, and using elegant stationery or a brand new notebook - I imagine my 2019 desk will look just like this (all items from TK Maxx) :
Mind you, any new stationery items have a lot to live up to.. my husband is a lifetime devotee of expensive, top quality writing instruments. He owns, and regularly uses, a wide range of fountain pens, propelling pencils and rollerballs, from luxury makes such as Mont Blanc, Dunhill and Parker Duofold. One of his favourite sets is by the Italian house of Montegrappa, so when I saw a beautiful, black and silver Art Deco style ballpen of the same make on the TK Maxx website, reduced from RRP of £380, to just £66, I simply had to order one and see what the appeal was!

The pen arrived promptly, well packaged and felt immediately like a luxurious choice. It was double boxed in an outer and inner navy coloured box and with an additional thin, outside cover to keep it all pristine:
On opening the inner case, my new Montegrappa was protected in a slim, plastic cover.
Carefully removing the pen, I noticed that it was actually a beautiful, dark smokey grey and silver colour and I really liked the weight in my hand - substantial but not too heavy. The ink colour is black and writing my first handwritten note, I was taken by how nicely I was able to form the words - not bad for someone who has had very little true writing experience over the last few years!
Whilst this is definitely an investment purchase, and I know I will have to look after it (unlike the multitude of cheap Bic biros wallowing in the bottom of my bag), it feels very grown up to own such a fine quality pen, and one that I will be proud to use for many years to come!
These fabulous pens are selling quickly at TK Maxx online, but may still be available in some stores. For more inspiration search Home\Books and Stationery or simply click here
