Dress like a princess..without paying a king's ransom
Ever since our daughter was tiny, we have shopped at TK Maxx for a wide range of quality children's clothes, accessories, toys and books.
Now that she is a "tween-ager", I am still keen that she looks smart for special, family occasions, whilst recognising that she wants to be cool and fashionable when out with her friends (more of which in my next post!)
With all the snowy weather recently, we are really looking forward to our summer cruise (and the fun of dressing up for cocktail parties and gala evenings onboard!) Having failed to spot anything suitably sparkly in the Christmas sales, we recently headed to TK Maxx in the hope of finding some designer wow-factor..
Thankfully, our local store was in full-on party mode and our shopping trip felt more like a visit to the children's department of a major Knightsbridge department store (but without any palpitations at the till 😱).
There was a good choice of formal wear available and we finally invested in a couple of gorgeous, special occasion outfits by two renowned children's designers - "David Charles" and "Lesy by Lisetta Cosi".
Our darling daughter's first selection was a stunning, black and electric blue party dress from "David Charles'" Gold Label range. I have never really liked her wearing black but it's a de rigeur part of her more grown up, "tween" look and luckily the style of the dress stops it looking too adult, so both she, and I are happy with this choice!
It's hard to convey the luxury feel in a photograph but the weight of the tulle and beautiful outer fabric, velvet ribbon and gold-tone metal embellishments really make this stand out as an expensive label.
Fortunately I didn't have to pay the £247 RRP shown on the tag (or even the sale 50% off price for something similar on the David Charles website - no affiliation), instead I got a red-ticket TK Maxx saving, bringing the price down to just £32! Amazing!
Secondly, my daughter's all-time formal favourite.. If you haven't come across the Italian "Lesy" brand before, you are in for a treat and I feel extremely lucky to have purchased dresses from this premier label in the past. I have particularly lovely memories of our little girl wearing a heavenly, navy taffeta and sequin "Lesy" party dress for Christmas in the ballroom of the glorious, 5*Luxe Grand Hotel Villa Cora in Florence. During our break, we naturally indulged in some of the deluxe retail therapy that Florence is famous for and I came across the identical dress tagged at €399 (around 6 times what I had paid at TK Maxx a few weeks before).
Sadly, even fabulous dresses grow too small before long, which is a reminder to apply sensible spending to children's special occasion items - no matter how lovely they are!
Back to the angelic, ivory lace "Lesy" confection that we found this week (complete with branded hangers).
Hope you have enjoyed this latest update, I look forward to hearing about your favourite party purchases from TK Maxx too! Find your nearest store here or have a look online (no affiliation). For more everyday, designer kids' fashion at affordable prices, please keep a look out for my follow up post, proving that kids can also benefit from designer basics at supermarket prices, when you #livelife2themaxx!! xoxoxo

I know that our daughter will look fabulous - the delicate, lace fabric and pearl / diamanté adornments are really exceptional as you would expect from any similar designer make - but with the matching soft cotton, cream leggings (see detail below) plus a headband and ballerina flats, she will also feel comfortable, an important consideration at any age I find!
In terms of cost (and bearing in mind you can pay over €1000 for a dress by the same make on the www.lesy.it website (no affiliation)), but I gained 75% discount off the marked RRP of £270, buying a genuine, Italian-made luxury ensemble for just £59.99 - fabulous value considering the top-quality look and feel. The photo below shows some of that beautiful detailing in close-up.:Hope you have enjoyed this latest update, I look forward to hearing about your favourite party purchases from TK Maxx too!
